Today we’re going to try and dig into this Slate and figure out which players top the charts in our “Dong Detector”. Our goal is to help you find HR hitters.
As we all know, everyone loves the long ball and in the DFS world, especially on Social Media, the MLB Long Ball is King. The HR is the key In DFS and having the player or two with a HR or two (aka Double Dong) can lead to winning lots of $$$.
The DRS Sheets RANK the PARK FACTOR 1-30. (1 being the best, 30 being the worst.)
FB% for the projected starting pitchers:
Fly ball percentage refers to the percentage of balls in play that are fly balls. A pitcher with a low fly ball percentage will normally be more successful than one with a higher percentage, since home runs are typically hit on fly balls. SIMPLE, RIGHT????
BVP DONG of the night is Mitch Moreland. He has 3 DONGs and a .278 BA v Sonny Gray in 19 PA.
Miguel Sano (MIN) 3B
Miguel Sano continues to smash baseballs on a daily basis. Sano has 8 DONGs off RHP and this afternoon he gets a RHP German Marquez. Marquez has been solid at times year but does have allow a .342 wOBA to RHB. Sano has a 60% Hard-hit% and a ZERO Soft-hit% for the season. I love Sano as a one off in this spot that should go overlooked with 3B Kris Bryant, Nolan, and Manny on this small slate.
Mark Trumbo (BAL) OF
Last season, Mark Trumbo hit 37 of his DONGs off RHP. So far this season, he’s hit 3 DONGs off RHP. He’s struggled to start the season, but his hardhit% has increased and is now at 46.7% of the last 2 weeks. This afternoon he faces RHP Jordan Zimmerman who has lost his “stuff” is all but ready to serve up some more MOTOWN DONGs. Zimmerman is giving up 46.7% hard contact and an average of 2 DONGs the last 5 outings! Build an O’s stack and make sure Trumbo is in it.
Nelson Cruz (SEA) OF
Nelson Cruz and the Mariners will be very popular stack with them face RHP Dylan Covey. EAT THE CHALK. Covey has a 7.98 ERA and is allowing a .415/.513/.797 slash line with 9 DONGs, 2 in each of his last 3 outings! Nelson Cruz has 8 DONGs, .417 wOBA and .269 ISO v RHP. A Mariners’ stack with batters like Seager/Gamel/Motter/Segura and focused around Cruz will be VERY DONG-A-TASTIC stack!
Starlin Castro (NYY) 2B
I mentioned it on the podcast last slate, I loved the Yankees v LHP Vargas and it paid off. Tonight they get another LHP in Danny Duffy who has been just as dominated in his last 3 outings. 2B is very slim so most folks will pay down, but in a GPPs, slide in Starlin Castro who has been the Yankee’s hottest bat. He’s raking with a .224 ISO in the last 14 days. The winds are still heavy and I love the Yankees again as a nice low boom bust stack.
