Today we’re going to try and dig into this Slate and figure out which players top the charts in our “Dong Detector”. Our goal is to help you find HR hitters.
As we all know, everyone loves the long ball and in the DFS world, especially on Social Media, the MLB Long Ball is King. The HR is the key In DFS and having the player or two with a HR or two (aka Double Dong) can lead to winning lots of $$$.
The DRS Sheets RANK the PARK FACTOR 1-30. (1 being the best, 30 being the worst.)
FB% for the projected starting pitchers:
Fly ball percentage refers to the percentage of balls in play that are fly balls. A pitcher with a low fly ball percentage will normally be more successful than one with a higher percentage, since home runs are typically hit on fly balls. SIMPLE, RIGHT????
Jayson Werth (WAS) OF
#1 BVP DONG of the night is Jayson Werth. He has 2 DONGs and a .481 BA v R. A. Dickey in 32 PA.
Chris Davis (BAL) 1B
#2 BVP DONG of the night is Chris Davis. He has 4 DONGs and a .444 BA v Aaron Sanchez in 28 PA.
Jose Reyes (NYM) 3B
#3 BVP DONG of the night is Jose Reyes. He has 4 DONGs and a .340 BA v Ricky Nolasco in 32 PA.
Jay Bruce (NYM) OF
First man up has been a regular on the Dong Detector, Jay Bruce. Bruce has an awesome matchup v RHP Ricky Nolasco who has the highest FlyBall rate on the slate (SEE CHART). Nolasco has served up 13 DONGs this season already! Bruce has had success v Nolasco with 2 DONGS and a .278 BA. Bruce is has an ELITE .340 ISO v LHP. I love Jay Bruce tonight as a one off and he should be the first batter in your lineup. Build a nice Mets stack around Jay Bruce.
George Springer (HOU) OF
I am going to go with my leadoff DONG prediction here, as mentioned on the podcast, George Springer. Springer is still that boom/bust GPP type, .257 BA with 9 DONGs. However, Springer’s hardhit% is at 53.1% and 22% HR/FB over the last 2 weeks. Tonight, he faces RHP Trevor Bauer who has look lost this season with a 6.92 ERA and 8 DONGs allowed. Springer’s Fanduel price has dropped enough that if you have the top priced pitchers tonight, so he fits nicely. As mentioned on the podcast, the Astros are my favorite stack of the night.
Nelson Cruz (SEA) OF
Let’s go back to Mariners and the well with Nelson Cruz since he’s facing a lefty who he’s had success with in his career (Versus LHP Jose Quintana, Cruz has 1 DONG and a .350 BA.) Nelson Cruz has 2 DONGs, .468 wOBA and .278 ISO v LHP in 2017. LHP Jose Quintana has a 43.6% FlyBall rate and has allowed 6 DONGs to RHH. Mariners stack again for me tonight with Cruz and the next batter…
Jean Segura (SEA) SS
Another player with leadoff DONG potential, Jean Segura. Segura since returning from the DL has been torching in May, with a .418 wOBA and a .397 BA and 2 DONGs. He’s riding a 16 game hitting streak and also faces LHP Jose Quintana tonight. As I mentioned with Nelson Cruz, LHP Jose Quintana gives up the DONG to RHH. Segura has the DONG and BAG potential which can be elite at the SS slot.
