Pitchers
Clayton Kershaw is the clear chalk of the night and for good reason as he faces a struggling Mets team in Dodger Stadium. Kershaw is holding opponents to a .204 BA with 9.74 K/9, while holding the Mets to an even more impressive .187 OPP BA. Over the last week the New York Mets have only scored 34 runs, ranking them 25th in the league. The Mets are traveling to the west coast after losing three of four to the Washington Nationals. The entire Mets team has gone cold as of late and I don’t think tonight is the night they turn it around against the National League’s three time Cy Young award winner, Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw is reasonably priced at 12,500FD & 13,500DK. The Dodgers’ ace also owns impressive BVP’s against the Mets, but who doesn’t he have good BVP’s against? The Los Angeles Dodgers are favored at -320 with a 7 O/U. If you have the salary available, don’t think too much and lock in Major League Baseball’s best pitcher, Clayton Kershaw.
Clayton Kershaw BVP stats vs. New York Mets:
Marco Estrada has been struggling lately with a 12.08 ERA in the month of June. The New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland A’s are responsible for Estrada’s horrific month, tagging him with 17 earned runs in 13 innings pitched. With that said, this is the perfect matchup for Estrada to get back on track. Marco Estrada’s last quality start came against the same Texas Rangers that he will be facing today. Estrada threw six innings with eight strikeouts, only allowing one earned run. Estrada has impressive BVP stats against Texas, allowing a .203 team BA in 74 at bats. Marco Estrada is a GPP play only as he will most likely be low-owned while maintaining a high ceiling. Estrada can significantly exceed value tonight for a bargin price of 8100FD & 7900DK.

Stacks
The Seattle Mariners stack will likely be chalky today. Although I like to avoid the chalk, I am confident that the Mariners will be able to score against 33 year old, Anibal Sanchez. The Mariners have seen Sanchez in one relief appearance this year. In this outing, Sanchez allowed six hits, four runs (three earned) over four innings pitched. I can see Sanchez getting pulled from this game early, forcing Detroit to rely on their bullpen. Detroit has the fourth worst bullpen in the league with a 9-12 record, holding a 4.83 Bullpen ERA. Seattle is favored at – 147 with a 9 O/U. This is a mix and match situation. My favorite plays are Danny Valencia, Kyle Seager, Mike Zunino, Taylor Motter and Nelson Cruz. With that said, there is also merit in playing others such as; Robinson Cano and Ben Gamel. Normally I fade the chalk, but I am too confident in Seattle’s offense today to fade them. Nelson Cruz is my favorite play of the day, he will be in 95% of my lineups as both a one-off and apart of my Seattle stacks.

Other GPP Stacks: Pittsburgh Pirates (Andrew McCutchen, Josh Bell, Jordy Mercer, Adam Frazier, Francisco Cervelli)
One Offs
Nelson Cruz is my play of the day at a salary of 4100FD & 4800DK. Cruz has a .417 BA with four homeruns in just 12 at bats against Anibal Sanchez. Nelson Cruz should be a big part of today’s five run projected Seattle total as Cruz should be batting in the clean-up position. Nelson Cruz hasn’t homered in 11 games, I think he’s due tonight against an aging Anibal Sanchez. Hopfully Seattle will quickly get past Anibal Sanchez and move onto Detroit’s bullpen that ranks 27th in the league, allowing a 4.83 ERA.
Ryon Healy has been on one hell of a streak lately. Healy has three multi-homerun games over his last 15 games, as the A’s have been heating up, slowly but surely. Ryon Healy is facing Houston’s newest starter Brad Peacock, who was promoted from the bullpen five starts ago. Healy already has a homerun in just two at bats against Peacock. Brad Peacock has an impressive 35.6 K%, but also has a 4.61 June ERA. Also, Peacock has faced the A’s twice this season, both in relief appearances. In these two relief appearances, Houston’s starter earned a 5.40 ERA in 1.2 innings pitched.
