Below is a game by game breakdown of the QB, RB, and WR for tonight’s slate. Be warned, I will not list TE, K, and DEF.
A trend that I noticed last night the 3rd and 4th string folks played a ton.
If you have any questions feel free to hit me up @TheBondarBrand
Tennessee v N. Y. Jets
QB: Super Mario Marcus Mariota should get a few series tonight nothing worth playing though. The backups are Matt Cassell, Alex Tanney, Tyler Ferguson. Based off the last 2 slates the QB that mops up, will be the one you want. I don’t like having to pick from 4 QBs and odds are most wont either. Let’s look for a QB elsewhere.
RB: Murray will get little to no snaps. 2nd year RB, Derrick Henry should provide some 1st quarter excitement and maybe a TD. After that the Titans are filled with young RBs. Davis Fluellin, Khalfani Muhammed, Brandon Radcliff and Akeem Judd round out the roster. If you notice the trend over the last 2 slates, the RB that plays last has been productive.
WR: I’ll be considering Harry Douglas and one sneaky guy is Jonathan Krause.
QB: Jets may have one of the worst QB situations in the NFL. Josh McCown should start and Christian Hackenburg and Bryce Petty will follow. The last 2 make for interesting play at VERY low ownership. Problem is that the Jets are a horrible team and I don’t expect much help for any of the three.
RB: Matt Forte and Bilal Powell are sitting out tonight. The only viable remaining running backs are Elijah McGuire and Jordan Todman. Marcus Murphy is a possible mop up guy tonight. I like McGuire with hope of a TD early.
WR: Someone must catch the ball, right? Research if you want a low no named WR. Chris Harper and rookies Chad Hansen/ArDarius Stewart seems like the plays.
Dallas v Los Angeles Rams
QB: Dak Prescott should be on the field tonight and makes for a great option considering it’s the “second” preseason game for Dallas. Backup Kellen Moore is the other great option in the game as I have said before, he knows the offense and has produced in the past in preseason. Luke McCown and Cooper Rush should play the final quarters and get the low-end backups of the Rams. I expect Dak to be the chalk tonight, a great pivot is Moore is he can get more than 2 quarters.
RB: The talk of the sports world yesterday. Ezekiel Elliott suspension should help with the backups tonight, since he won’t play. Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris should get most of the carries tonight. Last game top rusher Rod Smith will have more chances to improve his depth chart status.
WR: Bryant and Cole Beasley might be nice low “hope for a TD” play. I can understand if you risk it. Brice Butler is hurting so that might open some playing time for those fighting for a job. I mentioned him before and if he’s in there tonight, Ryan Switzer maybe a great PPR play if he gets the run. Andy Jones is the other WR that will play the “Bryant “role tonight. Noah Brown for the deep GPPs.
QB: 32-YEAR-OLD Sean McVay debuts tonight with a few QBs options to tinker with. Last year’s number 1 pick, Jared Goff should get a chance to run with the 1st quarter starters, but “only 6-10 plays”. After that Sean Mannion and Dan Orlovsky finish. Dan Orlovsky is the seasoned vet and should be a great play tonight if he’s in there late 3rd and all the 4th. Note that under a different coach, Jeff Fisher, last season week 1 Sean Mannion threw 3 TDs.
Oakland v Arizona
QB: Carson Palmer should get a series or two followed by Drew Stanton. After that Blaine Gabbert and Trevor Knight will finish the game. Another weird setup since it’s game 2 and that may push the starters longer against more Raider backups.
RB: David Johnson should play tonight. This being the 2nd game they should narrow down the backs tonight. Andre Ellington should replace him and then moving on to Kerwynn Williams to finish the game. T.J Logan is out. The week one letdown, Elijhaa Penny will see some lower ownership tonight.
WR: Brittan Golden and Marquis Bundy led the squad the last game and should expect the same tonight.
QB: Doubtful that the new contract of Derek Carr called for much play in the first preseason game, so we get to look forward to Connor Cook and EJ Manual. I want the guy that comes into this game last if I was to play one. Manual has been a starter in the league and should produce if he’s playing against backups.
RB: Marshawn Lynch shouldn’t be playing tonight. Backups DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard are Twitter names from the last preseason. George Atkinson 3rd had 2 TDs last season game 1 and might attract the game log hounds.
WR: Cordarrelle Patterson and Seth Roberts should get the targets from the #2 QB and be productive. Jaydon Mickens is the guy with the most to prove. He’s fighting with Isaac Whitney and Johnny Horton for a roster spot. All 3 are nice options tonight.
***In closing, there is a lot of great options in each game and remember that DFS preseason is about opportunity. Focus on those players. ***
I hope you enjoyed the write-up and best of luck tonight!
