The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
C – Jack Eichel – Buffalo Sabres ($7400 FD)
Eichel and the Sabres are at home today against the Winnipeg jets. The jets are a much better home team than road team and today they will be rolling out Steve Mason in net. Mason had a nice stretch recently but went back to his old ways in his last game giving up 5 goals. Buffalo is in a nice spot today and Eichel centers the top line for them. He has been shooting the puck a ton lately where he has 22 shots on goal in his last 5 games. I will be using him in both cash and gpp today.
W – Alex Ovechkin – Washington Capitals ($8800 FD)
It appears that Ovechkin is in one of his scoring streaks again as he has 8 points in his last 4 games. The capitals are one the premiere home teams in the league and today get a prime matchup against the free falling Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver will have Markstrom in net today, and although he hasn’t been playing terrible, he is still susceptible to allowing a lot of goals. I think that the Capitals are gonna have a field day today and you know Ovechkin will be a part of it.
Mid Dollar Plays
C – Leon Draisaitl – Edmonton Oilers ($6400 FD)
It’s no secret that the Oilers are underachieving this season and part of the reason is their struggling PP. Last season Draisaitl had a big hand in the Oilers PP success but unfortunately has not been able to replicate it this year. That being said the Oilers could have a sneaky good matchup today against Rinne and the Predators. Rinne at home this year has given up a full goal more than when he is on the road. He has given up atleast 3 goals in 5 of his last 6 home games. Since the Oilers have been struggling I will only be using Draisaitl in GPP contests today, but I think he is a good play and if he is lining up with McDavid today he makes an even better play.
D – John Carlson – Washington Capitals ($5900 FD)
Normally I try to spread out the teams in a big slate but I just like the Capitals matchup too much today. John Carlson has been playing some great hockey as of late and he has been especially good at home. Carlson has atleast 10 FD points in 9 straight home games and that included two straight games with 20+ points. Vancouver has been generous to defencemen all season and I think Carlson has a good opportunity to produce today. I will be using him in both cash and gpp lines today.
Low Dollar Plays
W – Ryan Dzingel – Ottawa Senators ($3600 FD)
The Ottawa senators are finally starting to play offensive players with offensive players and they result has been 12 goals in their last 2 games. Dzingel is playing on the top line for the Sens and he is an extremely streaky player. He has 4 goals in his last 3 games and has a good matchup today facing off against Forsberg and the Blackhawks. Forsberg has been hit and miss this year with his goaltending and has been missing more often than not. This puts the Sens in a nice spot, but since Dzingel is a streaky player I will be having him in GPP lines only today.
D – Jordan Oesterle – Chicago Blackhawks ($3900 FD)
It’s time jump on the Oesterle bandwagon that my cowriter Mr.Scharf has been preaching over the last little while. He is a cheap d man playing top minutes and producing. He has atleast 15 FDP in 4 of his last 5 games and the best part is that he is not point dependent. He shoots and blocks shots and reaches his value from those two stats alone. Any production scoring wise is icing on the cake. He makes for a great cap saving play today in both cash and GPP.
G – Alex Stalock – Minnesota Wild ($7900 FD)
The Minnesota Wild give up the least amount of goals per game in the NHL when playing at home. Granted a lot of that has to do with Dubnyk, however Stalock held his own when Dubnyk was injured. The Wild play a good defensive game at home and that also benefits the goaltenders. Today the Wild are playing the Flames who have not been scoring as frequently as they were to start the year. That being said it’s not the easiest matchup for the Wild, but Stalock does have a win over the Flames this year already and at his price he makes for a great GPP play today
