The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
W: Taylor Hall – New Jersey Devils ($7500 FD)
Taylor Hall and the Devils are coming off their bye week tonight to face off against the Flyers who are also coming off their bye week. Before the bye week, Taylor Hall was playing some great hockey. In his last 3 games, he had 3 goals and 3 assists and a whopping 20 shots on net. The Devils have a good special teams matchup tonight, as their 6th rank PP will be taking on the 4th worst PK in the league. I think this game has the potential to be high scoring, and I will be wanting Hall in both my GPP and Cash lineups today.
C: Tyler Seguin – Dallas Stars ($8100 FD)
Another couple of teams that will be coming off their bye week are the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche. Before the break, Seguin was one of the hotter players in the league as he had points in 7 of his last 8 games including 3 multi point games. Dallas and Seguin play much better at home which shows in Seguin’s splits as he has 12 more points at home than on the road. He has already accumulated 6 points in 4 games this year against Colorado and that include 14 shots on goals. I will be all over Seguin today in both Cash and GPP games.
Mid Dollar Plays
C: William Karlsson – Vegas Golden Knights ($6400 FD)
Yes the Golden Knights are first in the Western Conference (still don’t get it) but I am ready to embrace it and they have a great matchup today against the Oilers. The Golden Knights are one of the better home teams in the league and Karlsson centres the top line for Golden Knights and he has developed great chemistry with Marchessault. He has goals in 5 of his last 8 games, and in his last 2 games he has 3 points and 9 shots. The Oilers goalie hasn’t been confirmed yet, but either way they have a good matchup. I once again like Karlsson in both cash and GPP games.
D: John Klingberg – Dallas Stars ($5700 FD)
I am rolling with a second Dallas player here as I really like their matchup today. Klingberg has probably been the hottest defensemen over the last little while in the NHL. He is on a 5 game point streak and has points in 8 of his last 9 games. He plays on the top PP line and is not afraid to shoot the puck. Colorado gives up the 5th most goals against on the road and I think Dallas can put up a few goals today. I also will be using Klingberg in both cash and GPP lines today.
Low Dollar Plays
D: Ivan Provorov – Philadelphia Flyers ($4900 FD)
Throughout the year, the Flyers have been an up and down team. They go on massive winning streaks and then massive losing streaks. Currently the Flyers are on one of their goal scoring winnings streaks and along with the team Provorov is playing really good. He is on a personal 3 game point streak which includes 3 goals and 2 assists and has 12 shots in that span. Another plus for him is that Ghost is out tonight with an illness which will propel Provorov to the first PP unit and will probably see an uptick in minutes tonight. He has a tough matchup facing Schneider at home so I will probably be using Provorov in GPPs tonight but he makes for a nice play today.
W: Kevin Labanc – San Jose Sharks ($4200 FD)
Labanc and the Sharks are hosting the Arizona Coyotes today who will be on the second half a back to back. Coyotes are the worst team in the NHL and it could get ugly today in SJ where the Sharks should be able to feast. Labanc should be lining up on the second line with Logan Couture and will also see time on the second PP unit. Prior to his mini slump Labanc was producing quite well where he had points in 6 of 10 games including 3 multi point efforts. He is pretty point dependent so I will be using him in GPP lines only but I think he has a chance to have a nice game today. If not Labanc, try to get some Sharks in your line today as they should be able to put up a few goals.
G: Marc-Andre Fleury – Vegas Golden Knights ($8000 FD)
I think along with the rest of the hockey world, Fanduel still can’t believe that the VGK are playing so well. Fleury is in a tie for being the 9th most expensive goalie in todays main slate. The likes of backup goalies Aaron Dell and Ryan Miller are either tied or ahead of him in price. Fleury on the year has a 1.73 GAA and .945 save % and I know he has missed some time both those are some ridiculous numbers. Today he faces off against the Edmonton Oilers who prior to scoring 4 goals against the lowly Coyotes had only scored 7 goals in their previous 7 games. Vegas are tied for giving up the least amount of home goals in the league and I think Fleury is in a nice spot today. I will be leaning on him more in GPP contests but also see him being used in Cash lines today.
