The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
C: Sidney Crosby – Pittsburgh Penguins ($9100 FD)
Sidney Crosby has returned to form recently and is really starting to produce like we are all accustomed to. He is on a 9 game point streak in which he has collected 3 goals and 16 assists. Today the Penguins are facing off against the San Jose Sharks who recently have really struggled keeping the puck out of their net. The Sharks have given up over 3 goals a game over their last 7 and will have Jones back in net tonight. Jones has had a sub-par season when it comes to his standards and I think the bad streak is going to continue. I like Crosby more in GPPs however he is usable in cash if you have the salary to fit him in.
W: Vladimir Tarasenko – St. Louis Blues ($8300 FD)
The St. Louis Blues are at home today to face off against the Montreal Canadiens. Despite his struggles, I don’t normally like to go against Price but his struggles have last too long now and I think it’s time for me to jump on board and start attacking Montreal. Tarasenko has 4 goals over his last 7 games and he has been shooting the puck a lot as he has atleast 4 shots in 5 of his last 7 games. With Montreal allowing close to 4 goals a game over their last 6 games I really like Tarasenko to hit the score sheet today and with his shot totals I will be looking to using him in both Cash and GPP lineups today.
Mid Dollar Plays
C: Matthew Barzal – New York Islanders ($6300 FD)
The New York Islanders are the 3rd highest home scoring team in the league and today they get a home matchup against the Florida Panthers who happen to give up the 10th most goals per game on the road. Barzal has been steadily producing as he has points in 7 of his last 8 and is on a 4 game point streak. He hasn’t score in 5 games but I think that he will end that streak today in a really good matchup up. What I like about the Barzal is that he also gets time on the top PP unit and with the Panthers killing at just 75% over the last few weeks, I really like the Islanders PP today. I am comfortable to use Barzal in both cash and GPP lines today.
D: P.K. Subban – Nashville Predators ($5800 FD)
Subban has been on fire as of late as he has collected a goal in 3 straight games and has a point in 6 of his last 7. Today the Predators are at home against the Chicago Blackhawks who will have Forsberg in net. Forsberg has been hit in miss since he has been thrusted into the starter role but I think that today will be one of his down days. Nashville scores a lot more at home than they do on the road and I like Subban to
Low Dollar Plays
W: Blake Comaeu – Colorado Avalanche ($3600 FD)
Comeau and the Avalanche are on the road to face off against the Vancouver Canucks. When at home this year the Canucks have given up the 5th most goals per game and I think the Avalanche will take advantage today. That being said, the Canucks have a decent shutdown pair on defence so I will be using the second Avalanche line in my contests today. The Canucks have Del Zotto on their second pairing and he has been a victim of plenty of goals against this year. Comeau is more of a GPP play for me, but I will be considering using him in cash games to have some salary cap savings.
D: Rasmus Ristolainen – Buffalo Sabres ($4900 FD)
The Buffalo Sabres have really started to play some good hockey and that has coincided with the play of Ristolainen. He has points in 10 of his last 12 games and he plays more than 25 minutes a game which allows him to build his peripheral stats. Today the Sabres are at home to face off against the New Jersey Devils who will have Kinkaid in net today. Kinkaid on the year has a 3.28 GAA and a .892 save % which are not good numbers even for a backup. I like Risto in cash games and GPP games today.
G: Carter Hutton – St. Louis Blues ($8600 FD)
I have used Hutton here a few times over the last little while and I am going right back to him today. Hutton has been the hottest goalie in the league and aside from the one hiccup against Arizona, he hasn’t allowed more than a goal in a game in 5 of his last 6. Hutton is facing off against the Montreal Canadiens who have had some issues scoring this year. Although they have been found the back of the net more lately, I think their scoring woes will continue today. I will be using Hutton in all formats today.
