The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
W: Taylor Hall – New Jersey Devils ($8000 FD)
Taylor Hall missed a few games due to an injury but he returned to action last game and didn’t miss a beat scoring a goal and putting 5 shots on net. Hall is currently on an 8 game point streak scoring 6 goals and adding 7 assists. In addition to the scoring he has also added a whopping 37 shots on net. Today he will be facing off against the Flyers who will most likely have Alex Lyon making his first NHL start in net tonight. New Jersey also has a great home PP which makes me like the Devils even more. I will be using Hall in all formats tonight.
C: Ryan Getzlaf – Anaheim Ducks ($7600 FD)
Getzlaf and the Ducks are on the road today to face off against the Ottawa Senators. The Ducks had a couple of tough matchups last few games out but get a nice matchup tonight against the Sens. Ottawa gives up the most goals when playing at home this year and on the year Getzlaf has been a bit more prominent on the road. Prior to his last two games, Getzlaf had 5 points in 2 games and I like him to get back on the score sheet today. I will be using him in GPPs most likely but have no issues with using him in Cash lines.
Mid Dollar Plays
W: Evander Kane – Buffalo Sabres ($6300 FD)
Evander Kane started the year off on fire but has really struggled in the last 13 games as he has only accumulated 2 points. It seems that since he has been taken off of Eichel’s line his production has really dipped. Another thing that fell off was his shot totals as he only had more than 3 shots twice in that stretch. Well it appears that Kane is being reunited with Eichel today and I think he is going produce with a nice game. Buffalo is at home today to face off against the Panthers who give up more than 3 goals a game on the road and give up the most shots per game. I like Kane as a GPP play today.
D: Duncan Keith – Chicago Blackhawks ($5200 FD)
One of the most shocking things this season is the fact that Duncan Keith has 0 goals on the year. Today I am calling him scoring his first goal of the year. The Blackhawks are on the road to face off against the Vancouver Canucks. Keith despite not putting up points is still playing over 20 minutes a game and he has combined for atleast 6 blocked shots/shots on goals in 3 of his last 4 games. The Canucks give up the 5th most goals per game at home and are generous to defensemen. Keith is a GPP play but I think he is in a pretty good spot tonight.
Low Dollar Plays
W: Travis Konecny – Philadelphia Flyers ($4800 FD)
The Flyers are on the road today to face off against the NJ Devils who will have Kinkaid in net. Konecny has been on fire recently scoring in 5 straight games and putting up a bunch of shots. Konecny plays on the first line with Giroux and Couturier and sees time on the second pp unit as well. I see this game being a high scoring one and I will most likely have pieces on both sides of this game. I will be using Konecny in all formats today.
D: Noah Hanifin – Carolina Hurricanes ($3700 FD)
The Carolina Hurricanes are at home today to face off against the Montreal Canadiens. Over their last 6 games Montreal has given up 3.5 goals per game and on the road they give up the 5th most goals per game. Hanifin has strung together a couple of nice games together in a row as he has collected 4 points in those two games. Hanifin sees time on the second powerplay unit for the Hurricanes and gets to play with some pretty good players up front. Hanifin is pretty point dependant so he makes for more of a GPP play tonight, however if you were looking for a cheap play on D for Cash I don’t mind Hanifin in that spot.
G: Al Montoya – Edmonton Oilers ($7300 FD)
I really don’t like the goalie position today and don’t think there is a safe play anywhere. Since I am not super confident anywhere, I will be going with a cheap GPP play in Montoya. The Oilers are hosting the Mackinnon-less Avalanche today and I think he is in a good spot. The Avalanche are not as good on the road as they are at home and with no Mackinnon it really puts a dent to their scoring prowess. Montoya is the definition of a GPP play today as his performance could go either way today and it wouldn’t shock you. I will be using him to get some nice cap savings and loading up on my skaters today.
