The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
C: Tyler Seguin – Dallas Stars ($8000 FD)
Seguin and the Stars are at home today to face off against the Minnesota Wild. Seguin has been fairly consistent the last few games generating a point in 3 of his last 4. Seguin however hasn’t generated a multi point game in 9 games but I think he is in a great spot to do that tonight. Minnesota while being a dominant home team flip the script on the road as they give up the second most goals on the road. Since Seguin shoots the puck a ton, I like him today to find the score sheet and maybe be involved on a couple of goals today. I will be using him in both cash and GPP.
W: Filip Forsberg – Nashville Predators ($7400 FD)
Filip Forsberg returned from injury last game out and contributed right away with a goal and an assist. Today he has a great chance to continue to make his return a good one with a matchup against the New York Rangers. The Rangers have been bleeding goals lately as they have allowed 38 goals over their last 9 games good for over 4 goals a game. The Rangers have given up the 5th most goals per game on the road and the Predators and Nashville scores the 8th most home goals per game in the league. Forsberg is playing on the top line with Johansen and Arvidsson and I think they are in a great spot today.
Mid Dollar Plays
C: Brayden Point – Tampa Bay Lightning ($6200 FD)
Tampa Bay Lightning had a breakout game last time out when they potted 7 goals against the Calgary Flames. Most of the damage was done by the third line for the Lightning, however I am liking the Point line for this game. Point has been playing some good hockey lately as he has points in 7 of his last 9 games. In addition to his point production he has been shooting the puck a lot more lately as well. Point also gets bumped up to the top PP unit for the Lightning and makes for great cheaper exposure to Stamkos and Kucherov. I like Point in all formats today.
W: Kyle Palmieri – New Jersey Devils ($5400 FD)
Palmieri and the Devils are playing host to the Pittsburgh Penguins today who will be playing on a back to back. Palmieri has been hot over his last couple of games as he has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 2 games. The Devils are a better team when they play at home and that is evident with their powerplay as they have the 5th ranked home powerplay in the league. The team is much more dangerous with Hall in the lineup and Palmieri gets to play with him on the top PP unit. Earlier in the year Pittsburgh were atrocious on second half of back to backs, and although they have corrected it recently, I can see a let down game from them after a big win over Washington yesterday. Palmieri is a GPP play for me today.
Low Dollar Plays
W: Mathieu Perrault – Winnipeg Jets ($4400 FD)
The Jets are at home today to face off against the Colorado Avalanche. The Winnipeg Jets are the top scoring home team in the league this year as they average 3.83 goals a game. One of the players that likes his home cooking is Mathieu Perrault as he averages a point a game when playing at home. He suits up on the second line with Ehlers and Little and also sees pp time with those same players. Colorado will have Varlamov return from injury today and even though the Avalanche will have their number 1 back in net, he has not been good on the road. He has a 3.24 GAA and a .897 save percentage away from home today and I think Winnipeg is in a real nice spot. I will be using Perrault in both formats today.
D: Jake Muzzin – Los Angelas Kings ($4600 FD)
Muzzin and the Kings are at home today to face off against the Arizona Coyotes. Muzzin is the model of consistency for the Kings as he contributes in all facets of the games. He just had a 8 game points streak snapped against a tough Predators team but I like him to start a new one today. He has got a combined 4 shots on goals/blocked shots in 4 of his last 5 games. Muzzin will rarely get u a huge fantasy output but his consistency in all categories with a great matchup against Arizona makes him a great cash game play today.
G: Carter Hutton – St.Louis Blues ($8600 FD)
Surprise surprise, Carter Hutton has made another appearance in this article. Its hard to not use Hutton in this spot as he has just been so good. In his last 10 appearances he has only given up more than 1 goal 3 times. He has a fantastic matchup today against the Buffalo Sabres who are the lowest home scoring team in the league as they average only 2.04 goals a game. St. Louis is a great defensive team who are fully healthy and I really like Hutton to have a strong game. Use him in all formats today.
