The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
W: Vladimir Tarasenko – St. Louis Blues ($8000 FD)
Tarasenko and the St.Louis Blues have had a tough time scoring goals recently as they only have 11 goals over their last 5 games. However today they get a nice chance to bump they slump with a home matchup against the Minnesota Wild. The Wild have given up the second most goals on the road averaging 3.65 goals against per game. The starter today is Devan Dubnyk who has a 3.34 GAA on the road this year. Tarasenko while not scoring at his normal clip is still very capable for big games and is almost a point a game player at home this year. He makes for a better GPP play today, however I think he is perfectly fine in cash games today.
W: Taylor Hall – New Jersey Devils ($8100 FD)
The Devils are on the road today to face off against the Ottawa Senators. Hall is currently on a 10 game point streak which includes 6 goals and 9 assists. In addition to the points he shoots the puck a ton as he has collected 47 shots in that 10 game span. He has a good matchup today as Ottawa is one of the most generous home teams in the league allowing over 3.5 goals per game. With the amount that Hall shoots I really like him in cash lines today and makes for a nice GPP play today as well although he could come with some higher ownership.
Mid Dollar Plays
C: Pierre-Luc Dubois – Columbus Blue Jackets ($5500 FD)
Dubois is playing on the top line for Columbus alongside Atkinson and Panarin. Columbus on the year has had a tough time scoring goals, however they get a surprisingly nice matchup against the Washington Capitals today. The Capitals have been an average road team this year hovering around .500. The surprising part is the amount of goals they have given up on the road which is 3.54 goals per game good for 3rd most in the league. I think the Bluejackets are a sneaky play today and I like Dubois as a GPP play centering two good wingers.
W: Brock Boeser – Vancouver Canucks ($6600 FD)
Despite losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in their last game, the way they ended the game is going to give them a boost of confidence. This confidence is gonna be tested against the Florida Panthers tonight who will have Harri Sateri in net. Although Sateri has been playing really well as of late I still think that vulnerability is there. Florida has also given up a lot of goals at home, averaging 3.35 Goals against per game. Boeser has been shooting the puck a ton lately and I like him to go on a bit of a goal scoring streak here. I will be using him in cash and GPP lines today.
Low Dollar Plays
C: Alexander Kerfoot – Colorado Avalanche ($4600 FD)
Kerfoot and the Avalanche are finally back home tonight after a 6 game road trip and will be facing off against the San Jose Sharks. Over their last 7 games the Sharks have given up 21 goals good for 3 goals a game. The Colorado Avalanche have been one of the best home teams in the league and although the injury to Mackinnon gives them a big blow, I still think they will be able to produce. Kerfoot is skating on the top line with Landeskog and Rantanen and has seen a major uptick in minutes. He also seems pp time on the second unit. Kerfoot is a GPP play today but I think is in a nice spot.
D: Rasmus Ristolainen – Buffalo Sabres ($4700 FD)
Ristolainen and the Sabres are playing host to the Anaheim Ducks who will be on the second half of a back to back. The Ducks have been uncharacteristically bad defensively lately as they have given up almost 4 goals a game over their last 7 games. Part of the reason is that the Gibson has gone down with injury forcing Ryan Miller to play a lot more games than he should be. The extra workload has shown as Miller has a 4.52 GAA and a .863 save% in his last 7 games. Ristolainen plays a ton of a minutes for the Sabres and is in a great spot tonight. I will be using him in Cash game contests today.
G: Connor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets ($8400 FD)
The Winnipeg Jets are at home today to face off against the Arizona Coyotes. At home this year, Helly has been nearly untouchable posting a 2.00 GAA and a .933 save percentage while going 18-1-2!! They have a fantastic matchup tonight against a low scoring Coyotes squad who average the second fewest goals per game. Hellebuyck is probably going to be the highest owned goalie on the slate today which I am okay with as there are plenty of option to be different up front. I will be using him in all formats today.
