The Triple Deke will be a daily piece written by @Kamani31 and my co-writer Jonathan Scharf (@McKinley_412) on an alternating basis. Each day we will give you two of our favourite (yes that’s how you spell it in Canada) plays in 3 different pricing tiers, High, Medium, and Low as well as a goalie play. For the season opener, we will be bringing you two articles, Jonathan will be looking after the Draftkings plays and I will be looking at the Fanduel plays. Hopefully throughout the year we can help you guys win some money. So without further ado, let’s get the Triple Deke started.
High Dollar Plays
C: Jack Eichel – Buffalo Sabres ($7200 – FD)
The Buffalo Sabres face off against the Florida Panthers today after coming off a nice win against the Washington Capitals. Eichel on the year has 14 points in 15gp and will look to continue to build his point total today against a Florida team that has given up 15 points in its last 3 games. This has been a trend all season as Florida has given up the most goals against per game. I like Eichel and his line to continue the trend tonight, and he makes for a great GPP play with all the high end Centers playing today.
W: Blake Wheeler – Winnipeg Jets ($7900 – FD)
Wheeler has been on some type of hot streak over his last 5 games where he has 4 goals and 9 assists. Winnipeg has a very potent offence and they are starting to show it with both their top lines starting to produce. Winnipeg plays Vegas today in Vegas where the Golden Knights have an impressive 6-1 record. In their previous home stand however, Vegas did not exactly play any offensive juggernauts aside from the Blues, and I think Winnipeg is going to take it to them. Wheeler makes for a good GPP play today but can also be used in cash games.
Mid Dollar Plays
D: Zach Werenski – Columbus Blue Jackets ($5500 – FD)
Werenski and the Blue Jackets are at home today to face the Carolina Hurricanes. What has been the most disappointing aspect of Columbus’ game this year has been their PP where it is currently dead last in the NHL. Today however, they have a chance to start to improve it as the league’s 8th worst PK is coming into town. Werenski has points in 3 of his last 4 games, and has been shooting the puck a ton lately. I think Columbus is going to break out of their PP slump today and I think Werenski will have a part of it. I like Werenski as more of a GPP play today.
W: Alexander Radulov – Dallas Stars ($6500 FD)
Radulov has been on a nice 6 game point streak in which he has collected 4 goals and 5 assists. Today he and the Dallas Stars are facing off against the New York Islanders in what could potentially be a high scoring game. What makes Radulov valuable is he gets to suit up on the top Dallas PP unit which is the number one unit in the league. Even though the Islanders have started to improve defensively, they are not as sharp on the road. I like Radulov as a GPP play today as his shot totals have come down a bit which lowers his floor.
Low Dollar Plays
C: Matthew Barzal – New York Islanders ($4400 – FD)
Looking at the other side of the Dallas/New York game we have Matthew Barzal who is on a hot streak of his own. In the last 10 games, Barzal has a point in 9 of them in which he has accumulated 3 goals and 11 assists. He is playing on a line with Eberle and Ladd which has been one of the hotter 2nd lines in the league. He also suits up on the top PP unit for the Islanders which has been on fire over the last few games. At his price and his production, Barzal is a steal and can be used in both cash games and GPPs.
D: Aaron Ekblad – Florida Panthers ($4800 – FD)
In his last 3 games Ekblad has had FD point totals of 16, 4.8, and 11.2 and those totals have come without him hitting the score sheet. Tonight Ekblad is facing off against the Buffalo Sabres who right now are hurting big time on the back end. Ekblad is not the most offensively gifted player, however he provides a lot of peripheral stats and since he is facing off against Buffalo, he will have a chance to contribute to contribute to some offense. Because of his high floor I like Ekblad as a cash game player today.
G: Sergei Bobrovsky – Columbus Blue Jackets ($9100 – FD)
Bobrovsky has not been as sharp over his last few games; however he is back at home today where he posts excellent numbers. On the year when playing at home, Bobrovsky has a 1.84 GAA and a .939 save %. Today he faces off against the Carolina Hurricanes who over their last 3 games have only scored 7 goals. Even though he is expensive I really like Bobrovsky to get back to his stingy ways today and will be trying my best to fit him into my lines today.
