Today we’re going to try and dig into this Slate and figure out which players top the charts in our “Dong Detector”. Our goal is to help you find HR hitters.
As we all know, everyone loves the long ball and in the DFS world, especially on Social Media, the MLB Long Ball is King. The HR is the key In DFS and having the player or two with a HR or two (aka Double Dong) can lead to winning lots of $$$.
FB% for the projected starting pitchers:
Fly ball percentage refers to the percentage of balls in play that are fly balls. A pitcher with a low fly ball percentage will normally be more successful than one with a higher percentage, since home runs are typically hit on fly balls. SIMPLE, RIGHT????
The players listed below are great one-offs, but can be key pieces in stacks tonight.
DAY EARLY DONG
Jonathan Schoop (BAL) 2B
Over the last 15 days against LHP, Jonathan Schoop has been the top bat for the O’s. During that time frame, Schoop has a .500 ISO with an average exit velocity of 98MPH. Schoop also has a 7ft batted ball distance and hard-hit% in the 15 days. He’s facing a rookie for the first time this season. I think we were a day early with him.
Khris Davis (OAK) OF
Facing a Mexican baseball journeyman and career minor league pitcher, Khris Davis is in a great matchup tonight. In only 11 innings, RHP Cesar Valdez has allowed a massive 46% fly ball rate to RHHs. The one stat that pops out more than the 3.18HR/9 to RHHs, is his high pull%, over 51% almost every year in Mexico. The Roger Centre is a Top 3 park for RHHs to DONG, so load up on the RHHs for Oakland.
Jake Lamb (ARI) 3B
A common move is to use LHHs against RHP Mike Foltynewicz. On the year, he’s allowed a .373 wOBA and a 42% fly ball rate. Jake Lamb gets the friendly confines of his home park to help boost his DONG potential. Lamb has a .303 ISO v RHP this season and the Dbacks will be a popular stack once again.
Edwin Encarnacion (CLE) 1B
Oh look a fly ball RHP on the mound in “The Jake”, guess who is on the Dong Detector? RHP Jesse Chavez has allowed 2.54HR/9 and a 42% fly ball rate against RHHs. Over the last 2 week, “E5” has had a .250 ISO with a 36% hard-hit%. Play him with confidence.
Paul DeJong (STL) SS
DeJong has been on a tear since his call up! Over the last 14 days, he has a 48% hard-hit% and a 55% fly ball% with a .261 ISO. Tonight, he faces RHP Jon Gray. Gray is allowing a 0.84HR/9. He’s a bargain on FanDuel still since for some reason they don’t seem to move salaries.
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) C
I love the recent smoking bat that J.T. Realmuto is swinging. Over the last 2 weeks, he has a .292 ISO and a 48% hard-hit%. He faces LHP Cole Hamels who is allowing 1.41HR/9 to RHHs. The temperature will be 94 degrees and stacking against Hamels can be a profitable stack. (SEE TEAM BVP DONG)
TEAM BVP DONG
Giancarlo Stanton/Marcell Ozuna (MIA) OF
Against LHP Cole Hamels, Stanton and Ozuna have combined for a .270 BAA and 6 DONGs in 79PAs.
