As we all know, everyone loves the long ball and in the DFS world, especially on Social Media, the MLB Long Ball is King. The HR is the key In DFS and having the player or two with a HR or two (aka Double Dong) can lead to winning lots of $$$.
Today we’re going to try and dig into this slate and figure out which players top the charts in our “Dong Detector”. Our goal is to help you find HR hitters. Let’s go!
Jose Bautista (TOR) OF
In 36 PAs against RHP James Shields, Jose Bautista has a .323 BA and 5 DONGs. I list him because he’s going to be a BVP believers play and in GPPs will be very popular. Fade at your own risk.
Justin Smoak (TOR) 1B
With RHP James Shields on the mound, he suddenly becomes the target for DFS players. He allows a 3.52HR/9 to LHHs. Justin Smoak has a team leading .292 ISO against LHP. Over the last 14 days, Smoak has a 52% hard-hit%! Lock him in.
Michael Brantley (CLE) OF
With a .240 ISO, a 34% hard hit% and excellent BVP, Michael Brantly should be primed to go deep tonight against RHP Doug Fister. Fister is allowing a .340 BA, a .445 wOBA and 2.61hr/9 to LHHs in only 10 innings. Michael Brantley has a career .367 and 2 DONGs in 36 PAs v RHP Doug Fister.
Rougned Odor (TEX) 2B
In the Texas heat tonight RHP Felix Hernadez gets to face a powerful team ina lovely hitter-friendly atmosphere of Globe Life Park. Rougned Odor has been on fire lately, with two DONGs yesterday. Hernadez is allowing a .384 wOBA and 1.82 HR/9 to LHHS.
Steven Souza Jr. (TB) OF
With a .317 ISO and 39% hard-hit% in the last 14 days, Steven Souza Jr. is back on the Dong Detector. Tonight, he faces RHP Charlie Morton is allowing 1.54HR/9 to RHHs. The word on the streets and Twitter, Charlie Morton is going to be VERY popular tonight. So if you are into GPP plays with high upside, THIS is your play.
Tyler Moore (MIA) 1B/OF
Revenge mode for Tyler Moore tonight against the Nationals. With LHP Gio Gonzalez on the mound, I’d expect Tyler Moore to be starting. More importantly, I expect him to homer. Over the last 14 days, Moore has a 50% hard-hit% and a 64% flyball%. LHP Gio Gonzalez has 1.39HR/9 to RHHs this season.
Khris Davis (OAK) OF
Khris Davis is the batter that seems to Double Dong or strike out 3 times each game. Tonight, RHP Matt Cain takes the mound against the A’s sporting a .237 ISO, a .364 wOBA and 1.42HR/9 to RHHs. Khris Davis has a .286 ISO and a 38% hard-hit%. He can be a nice late night hammer.
TEAM DONG STACKS w/ONE-OFF
Nelson Cruz (SEA) OF
Revenge Cheat Code Alert! Nelson Cruz is back in Texas tonight against LHP Cole Hamels. Cruz has been ice cold with only a .188 ISO over the last 14 days. But I expect the hot Texas sun to melt away that ice since he has a 44% hard-hit% and a .188 BABIP. Cole Hamels is allowing 1.39HR/9 to RHHs this season with 39% hard contact. If you stack, focus on Seattle RHHs (Danny Valencia), but don’t leave out Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager. Combined in 108 PAs; 6 DONGs, .278 BAA and a 61 BBE and aEV 88.6! If you are on DK and are running a 5 batter stack add in Mike Zunino.
Kansas City Royals
Eric Hosmer (KC) 1B
A wonderful hitting enviorment, good BVP and RHP Ulbado Jimenez helps land Eric Hosmer on the DONG Detector. Camden Yards ranks 2nd overall DONG ball park for LHHs. Career wise against Jimenez, he has 3 DONGs and a.367 BA in 36 PAs. Over the last 2 weeks, he has a .231 ISO and a 35% hard-hit%. Jimenez is allowing a .412 wOBA and a 35% hard contact rate against LHHs. If you are building a stack, focus on those LHHs, Bradon Moss, Mike Moustkas, Alex Gordon but don’t leave out Salvador Perez or Lorenzo Cain . SEE CHART FOR LHHs against Jimenez:
